If you are an advanced practical magician, this book will blow your mind. The portal deck alone is worth the modest price.
Great book – original new stuff and summary of previous Pete’s ideas. Portals are very nice and useful tools. Complete platform for current, down to earth and effective psychonautical or just theoretical exploration.
This a rare work of esoteric genius. Yes, as many have said before the "art" on the cards included are terrible CGI garbage, though I greatly urge you to look past their cheesy aesthetics, utilize them as prescribed and view the system as a whole. Brilliant. Blinding. Fantastical. There hasn't been a system this fresh and revolutionary since Crowley broke rank and spilled the beans. It is a complete system (both practical and mystical) from beginning to end and outside of basic meditative practices you'll need nothing more. Mr.Carroll has reinvented the occult wheel once again. Buy it. Buy it now.
Anyone purchasing this is highly likely to enjoy ... on a number of levels. I do recommend exploring these offerings.

Beautiful book! The cards are beautifully crafted too. Very modest price for this item. For any adept or initiate, this is a great addition to your working tools.
There is so much to be said about Epoch. In short, it's awesome, and yes, if you're into practical magic, you should definitely get it.
On the positive side Carroll's writing is truly Promethean. He begins with a history of magic, and then proceeds to a grimoire of elemental magic, then planetary magic, then stellar magic, with great discussions of magical theory, philosophy, and religious issues along the way. (I need someone to explain the omnality chapter to me though.) The book and it's images are inspiring in an arcane sort of way. The image of the Chaobala provides a unique metaphysical map unlike any I've seen before and provokes a sense of excitement. The artwork is just magnificent. The product as a whole is of a very high-quality, and proves that chaos magic is still at the cutting edge of magical practice and exploration.
On the negative side Whoever proof-read the book did a bad job - there are many little mistakes throughout that are easily spotted. I also wish that Carroll would have provided a few conjurations for the elemental magic section, because as a newbie, I feel like I now have to reinvent the wheel, even though the practice of elemental magic is very old. I understand why he didn't provide conjurations for the planetary deities though, as I'm sure they require the personal and individual touch of each magician. Thankfully, he does provide conjurations in the stellar magic section, and some ideas for format and feel can be found in them. The majority of the artwork in the portals deck is amazing and beautiful, but there are a few images that don't sit with me at all, such as the images for Mars and Venus. This is really a personal taste issue, but I have a feeling that some folks might not appreciate all of the depictions, depending from person to person. Lastly, I was a little disappointed that Ganesh didn't make the grimoire, but this is also a personal issue, not a quality issue.
In summary Epoch is treasure for occultists, and I feel certain it's going to occupy my nights for many years to come.
